Catch up!
This is for the very few of you left who still check our blog. Thanks for being so faithful and patient. I just realized that we last posted in Spring. I can't believe how much our girls have changed just since summer. As our lives seem to be getting back into the same old routine of things, this post will be mainly about the girls. What else would you expect (or want)?
This summer Terry and I were asked to direct a small bible camp on Clear Lake. The camp only ran for 2 weeks and with it being our first entire summer off we thought we'd have lots of time and would rather enjoy a new challenge.
Well, we were wrong about the time, but were right about the challenge. It was so much fun to plan, organize and brainstorm new ideas for camp. Each week had about 35 campers so it was easy to hang out and get to know them all. Teen week was a blast as we barely did any skills and each day had a new activity. The highlight for me was Retro Olympics (pictures to follow).
The girls absolutely loved being outside from the minute they woke up until way-too-late bedtimes. Hazel believed she was a camper; lining up for meals and going to skills with other campers. Maybe next year we'll just assign her into a cabin. Of course the campers loved having cute little girls to play with all the time too.
We got back home the first week of August and thought we'd have plenty of time to work on redoing our bedroom, going to the beach, visiting friends, etc. Terry had a long list of outside projects he was hoping to accomplish also. But, I guess not having to work all summer means that you can basically do and go where you want when you want. So we did. Which didn't leave a lot of time for previously mentioned items.
Now that fall is here I've enjoyed reconnecting with friends, church and our women's bible study in town.
Terry is teaching 2 new classes this fall, one of which he is developing as he goes. So, it's been a little hectic for him. But he'd probably also like to brag about the awesome "new" bike he recently acquired and is loving getting back into biking (and shape).
I guess our big news (but old news) is that we're expecting baby #3 in January. I can't tell you how excited I am to be having a baby in Canada. It all seems so nice that I have to remind myself that it actually doesn't make labour any easier! I'm so excited to have friends and family come see the baby that day instead of 1-2 months later. The girls are so excited about a new brother or sister too. Luna is convinced that she's having a baby too, always referring to "her baby" and lifting up her shirt to look at her belly. Sometimes in the morning when we go to get her she even has her lambie stuffed under her shirt and announces to us that she's having a baby too. Hazel just keeps asking when the baby is coming out and if she can hold it. She's already named it too; "Spiderman" for a boy (of course) and "Rainbow" for a girl (not bad, actually).
Here's a few pictures of our time at camp:
Our little boy eating breakfast.
Hazel ALWAYS helping in the kitchen. I think she's trying to make cinnamon buns.
Here's the staff photo of Retro Olympics. We had such awesome staff that totally got into the spirit. Of course I always love a reason to go shopping at MCC too!
Hazel doing "Pharoah, Pharoah", the most loved/hated song at camp.
I don't even know.
Hanging out after a tough afternoon of games.
Camping with the Friesens.
Luna loves to trap our cat Daisy in the laundry basket.
Posing for mom.
Story time with Dad.
Just being normal. This is about as far as we got with the potty training.
We spend a good portion of our day just riding up and down our driveway.
And pushing things...
