The Sisters
I've been waiting for my sisters to send me pictures of their trip here because I hardly took any. But, people are getting impatient so I'll post what I have. Hazel's the one most people want to see anyway.
A week after my parents left, my two sisters came down to stay for a week. They found some really good last minute seat sales and just couldn't resist. Because they had both come to visit last year, it wasn't such a whirlwind tour of the island. Charla is 5 months pregnant and Maryanne a university student. So, taking it easy and being lazy around the house was much appreciated. Terry managed to fill his week up with activities and was surprisingly gone a lot in the evenings. Of course, we did get in a few good beach days (as you can tell from their red "glow").
I couldn't let them leave the island without having some sort of adventure although it wasn't the kind I would wish for. As we were driving to the coast, about half way there, our borrowed car broke down on the side of the mountain. We had some nice Dominican men stop to help us only to have it break down again 30 seconds later. This time it wasn't moving and this time the nice Dominican men weren't so nice. One of them offered to drive us the rest of the way for only $100. Having taken taxi's to the coast before, I felt that $30 was more than generous and told him he shouldn't try to take advantage of 4 girls and a baby. So, with Hazel still soundly sleeping and I on our cell phone to Terry, I managed to wave down any passing car that looked like it had room in it. I fortunately waved down an empty mini-van that was actually a taxi on his way to where we were going. When we asked how much, he said $30! Long story short; we made it there safely and enjoyed the rest of our time together.
It was a lot of fun having the sisters together and were sorry that Chandra couldn't make it too.
