Ouch!

This is a picture of me a few hours after getting knocked off my bike. I was biking (mountain biking) back from school, there was a bit of traffic but nothing crazy. A small pick-up truck tried to drive around me but got way too close and clipped my handle bars with his side mirror. I went sprawling and he went driving away. Luckily, a friend of ours was right behind me in a taxi. People helped me and my bike into the taxi. The taxi driver asked if I wanted to go and talk to the man. I said "No, he drove away." But apparently he just drove to the next lane and parked down by a house. So the taxi man went to find him and yell at him for me. He turned out to be an old man who said that he never saw me, he just knew that he hit something and when he looked back, he didn't see anything so he kept on driving. My friend who was in the taxi is Dominican and was really upset about her stupid country and the way people drive. So, the man offered to take me to the hospital and pay for anything I needed but I said I was okay, I just wanted to get home to put ice on my quickly swelling eye. So, I've got a scraped shoulder, hip and knees. I felt fine this morning but after working all day my neck and back got continually stiffer. Terry and I are going away this weekend to Sosua. I can't wait to just relax. Thankfully we can take a bus there, we don't have to drive.
Terry got back from his house trip last Friday. He had a great time with his class. They went to the North Coast, Cabarete and stayed at a retreat centre that hosts missionaries. From there they had cook-outs on the beach and went to a place called Lagoona Du Du for the day. It's a fresh water swimming hole surrounded by thirty-foot cliffs. It's about eighty feet deep in the middle and quite clear. They brough scuba gear with them. They went shopping in Santiago on the way home and then spent Thursday evening making pizza at our place and then staying for a sleep over on the roof that turned into a sleep over on our livingroom floor. Friday I was able to go with them to a waterfall called Bamboo Hole. This is where Terry bashed his head in the first week we were here. Luckily we had a great time there and no one was hurt.

Tarzan Terry! What the crap is up?!
Man, it looks like you guys are having at least a bit of fun.
Jill, I have a similar bike story. I was riding home from work down Portage Ave a couple years ago going way too fast in the lane closest to the parked cars when a parked dude opened his driver door and I flew right into -- and over -- it.
It looked way worse that I felt and everybody in cars and on the sidewalk tore a strip out of the door-opening dude.
Anyways, if you haven't check this out:
