Our tropical paradise

Okay, Okay. So you've nagged us enough that we are going to try to update our blog site more than once a month. We still don't have our own computer and once we do get it, it'll still be a long process of getting all the proper equipment so that the unpredictable power situation doesn't fry it. We went to Tim and Chandra's blog and they had lovely pictures of the river and the little park that everyone goes to for tea and crumpets. We thought that we would do a comparison of where we live. We also have a beautiful river going through town except here, it can also be used as a garbage dump. Instead of tea, it's Presidente beer and rice. Instead of bikes on the street, it's loud motorcycles and cows crapping. Can you see the similarities? It's almost like we're living in England too.

The weather here has not changed since we got here. It's sunny until 2:00 and then it rains and stops by 5:00. If it rains too long or too hard you can count on not having any water for a couple hours while they are cleaning the filter. But we've got a back-up water bucket that we can use for flushing and dishes. Strangely enough, it's all starting to feel normal.
Here are some pictures of where we live and work.

The first picture on the left is our chapel. Inside, there are large stain-glassed windows that look up into the mountains. It's makes going to church alot easier than in Canada. The second picture is of the classrooms, there are patios inbetween that the students can hang out in during breaks. The picture on the right is kind of at the top of campus looking down. Because it's built on a mountain, everything is in tiers.
This is the upper and lower patio by the classrooms. This classroom is Jill's. See the map? Every Saturday morning we have a bible quiz and I've decided to incorporate Canadian trivia for bonus points. Some kids didn't even know what a Province was. So, do you want to come work here now? Actually the job keeps us quite busy and we don't get to enjoy the scenery as much as we'd like.

Obviously, this is our apartment. It's very bare but easy to clean. We actually have a cleaning lady that comes every Friday. It's so much fun to come home after work and everything is clean and put away. I'll try to add some photos later. It's already getting too long. Feel free to add comments, you don't need a blog site to do it. Don't worry about the weird comments left on our site, it's just Charla.

I take offense to the accusation that I leave creepy comments, that is not in my nature and as the mother of 3 boys do you think I have nothing better to do? I have yet to see my name attached to such rubbish. Keeping in line with creep, Jill should point the finger at herself. The emails full of men she thinks are good looking down there are getting old.

DO U GUYS GET TO GO TO THE OCEAN AT ALL? I THINK YOUR EVERY-DAY CONDITIONS MIGHT BE OFF-SET BY WEEK-ENDS AT YOUR OCEAN-FRONT PROPERTY. JUST TELL TERRY TO REMOVE HIS JEWELLERY BEFORE GOING IN THE WATER.
SEEMS LIKE CHARLA IS COMMANDING A LITTLE TOO MUCH PRESS ON THIS WEBSITE. I'D LIKE TO HEAR ABOUT TERRY AND JILL'S TEACHING EXPERIENCES.

Feel like I'm intruding into some private family matters here. Great site and just got the address from Lorne (Dad to you) this evening. What a great way to stay in touch with what you're up to. We're all doing well from here to Alberta.
